Welcome to Yankee Attics

From Vermont attics to your Curio Cabinet If you can't get to Vermont yourself, we can help. We buy and sell from all kinds of Vermont country sales and offer a wide range of new and old collectibles found around around the world that somehow ended up in Vermont.

Who and what we are

We live and work in Vermont and sell through our eBay store where we try to keep a few hundred items always available for you viewing and buying pleasure. We never know what we will have next week. We haunt the local sales, auction houses and antique shops looking for bargains. We really do not specialize in anything, but you may see quite a bit of glass, pottery, porcelain and china from our store. Whenever we can, we try to feature Vermont artists and craftspeople. The range of talent and number of exceptional artists in Vermont is huge because so many artists find Vermont an inspirational place to create. From the wooden tableware decorated by Helga vonTrapp of "Sound of Music" fame to the glasswork of such nationally know glass blowers as Chris Mix and Glenn Ziemke, and studio pottery from Bennington Potters, Onion River Pottery and the dozens of other acclaimed pottery studios in Vermont, we are constantly on the lookup for pieces that you can treasure for years to come.

Communications

firefox My name is Tom White, and my wife and I work together on this store. We are always glad to communicate with customers who want to discuss a specific item, or types of items. You can send us e-mail at our , dedicated store e-mail account. We try to answer our mail every single day. At this time, we do not have a physical store, and cannot handle phone calls. but stay tuned for later developments.

Buying at Yankee-Attics

You should check for new items every Sunday evening around 7:00pm. Generally items not sold in a previous auction are re-listed in the new weekly auction (usually at a lower price) if there was a lot of interest but no bids. Otherwise unsold items are moved to our store. Since the "miminmum bid" reflects the least we were able to accept for an item, the Store listing "Buy-It-Now" price may be higher and reflect more accurately what we think the item is actually worth. In many cases (but not all) we accept offers below our asking price. We encourage you to consider this option if you are interested in an item, and time is not a crucial factor. We try to respond to offers within 24 hours. Before making an offer, please consider the terms of the listing. If I offer Free Priority Mail service for an item weighing up to one pound, you can calcualate that that the postage rate will be $4.85. I also have to absorb the costs of eBay and PayPal fees. Asking me to accept less for an item than it will cost me to sell it is not reasonable. However, in the case of an item that specifies that you pay postage, my direct costs are more limited, and I may have more room to negotiate. I accept many offers, but I also turn down offers where I feel that the intrinsic value of the piece is significantly more than the offer. I refused two offers of less than $10.00 on a spongeware Quimper vase by Henriot, and it soon soon was grapped up for much more than that. On the other hand, I have accepted some offers on things that I want to move quickly, just to clear out my inventory. I am also prone to accept lower offers if there has been little interest in a piece over a reasonable period of time.
